Minnesota DNR grants non-exclusive lease to dog clubs at Keystone WMA

Since April 15, the Minnesota Federation of Field Trial Clubs, Inc., a group of various dog clubs in Minnesota, has been operating under a non-exclusive lease to access, field-trial, and train their dogs on Keystone Woods Wildlife Management Area in the northeast Twin Cities metro area. The lease allows the clubs to access about 340 acres of Keystone’s 1,820 acres until Aug. 31, 2025, before fall hunting begins.
“Having access to this land and the thought of losing it is why we’re fighting so hard,” said Pete Aplikowski, president of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association in Minnesota, one of the federation’s members.
