Among the interesting topics readers have been discussing and debating as of late is one that revolves around any potential possibility that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation might expand deer hunting in the Southern Zone into January.
As we reported, on more than one occasion, DEC was encouraging hunters to harvest antlerless deer ahead of, and during the most recent deer seasons, in both zones, actually. We’ll see how those numbers pan out when harvest statistics are released this spring and if some of DEC’s antlerless harvest goals were realized.
