On Jan. 2, the last day of the Miller Boat Line ferry service, a flatbed truck from A-N-J Bait carrying tanks of emerald shiners arrived on South Bass Island at the request of dozens of the island’s winter anglers.
As a new forecast for some weeks of frigid weather was finally announced by local meteorologists, these anglers are hoping to use this preferred bait fish species when the lake freezes and allows ice fishing to commence.
