By this time of the season, the dumb roosters are dead. Some soaked up a load of 6s, some got picked off by avian predators, and some probably met their demise in more bland but equally effective ways.
The birds that are left now are the survivors – at least that’s the case on ground with hunting pressure. And because a lot of pheasant hunting happens on public dirt, that means a lot of the birds that we have access to are not just going to hop into our game bags.
