If you’re anything like me, you’ve been planning for this weekend’s Minnesota firearms deer opener since the day last year’s season ended. I’ve pondered my equipment, where I’ll place my stand and my kids’ stands, and what exactly I’ll do with any venison I’m lucky enough to bring home.
I’ve also spent time thinking about how the best-laid plans can be rendered completely moot if safety isn’t the top priority.
