Ohio and federal wildlife officials and local agencies gathered at three locations on Oct. 2 to release 60 juvenile lake sturgeons into the Cuyahoga River.
The five dozen fish were each fitted with internal transmitters that will allow tracking of them with land-based receivers as they disperse within this Lake Erie tributary and throughout the Great Lakes. Twenty each were released at Merlins Wharf in Cleveland, Boston Mills at Cuyahoga National Park, and north of the Gorge Dam in Akron.
