Central New York’s 980-acre Tully tract given to the Onondaga Nation

New York DEC and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have turned over nearly 1,000 acres of open space in Central New York’s Tully Valley to the Onondaga Nation. (Photo courtesy of Amy Roe, USFWS)

More than 1,000 acres of land in Central New York’s Tully Valley, including the headwaters of Onondaga Creek, has been given to the Onondaga Nation.
The completed title transfer of open space to an indigenous nation is one of the largest of its kind by any state. Those involved say it fulfills a critical part of the Onondaga Lake Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration Program settlement with parties including Honeywell International Inc.
