Early in 2023, New York’s pheasant propagation program and thus the fall pheasant hunting season were in jeopardy after an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) wiped out most of the population of ringnecks at the Reynolds Game Farm, near Ithaca, the state’s only breeding facility.
This year, not only is the pheasant season guaranteed, but state wildlife officials say it will be bigger and better than ever.
