When I moved back to Michigan in the late 1980s after a decade in the South and Texas, I committed myself to make an effort as an outdoor writer to try to allow Michigan sportsmen the chance to enjoy some of the sporting opportunities I learned about when I was (voluntarily) exiled from this great state: dove hunting, late season pheasant hunting, and an early teal season.
