Stakeholders at a Michigan Bear Forum in late August generally supported maintaining current harvest levels in the northern Lower Peninsula, and some slight increases in certain Upper Peninsula units.
Members of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources advisory group considered harvest quotas for individual Bear Management Units in both peninsulas, as well as several proposed policy changes in St. Ignace on Aug. 24.
