Deep thinking when it comes to summer bluegills

Talk to most anglers around the Midwest and it quickly becomes obvious that bluegill fishing is near and dear to most of their hearts.
As one of the area’s most sought after panfish, the bluegill has fishermen making regular weekend trips or week-long vacations to places known for plenty of big bluegills in search of their sweet fillets. The bluegill – for some reason – is usually thought of as an easy fish to catch, due in large parts to its abundance. There are times, however, when slab bluegills are anything but easy.
