Commentary: Pennsylvania must manage deer before feds get involved

The author says hunters in Pennsylvania need to take the stigma off of doe hunting, antler point restrictions need to be removed, and maybe give tax incentives to landowners to open up their properties. (File photo courtesy of the Michigan DNR)

The article concerning the feds taking over deer management from the states is alarming and should be a wake-up call to every sportsman out there.
As a one-time offshore fisherman, I saw some of the ridiculous things the feds can do when given the opportunity. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania has a problem for which I don’t have a solution. Deer have in many instances become “domesticated.” They coexist with humans too well.
