New York kids fishing derby celebrates 30 years of angling fun on June 30

Families will once again be taking part in the 30th annual Rex Nye Kid’s Fishing Derby taking place June 30 at the Whitesville Rod and Gun Club in Steuben County (Photo provided)

When the Rex Nye Kid’s Fishing Derby takes place once again at the Whitesville Rod and Gun Club, in Steuben County, N.Y., this year on June 30, its organizers will be raising a glass, or a cup of coffee, to offer a toast.
The group has much to celebrate, as this year’s event – which always coincides with New York’s summer free fishing weekend – will mark it’s 30th, and the fact that they have helped thousands of kids learn about fishing over the past three decades.
