Commentary: Fawns become a rare sight with does in northern Wisconsin

After reading Bills Rands’ Commentary on northern Wisconsin’s deer herd I feel it is my obligation to share my observations on the topic.
I started hunting in the Chequamegon National Forest in southern Ashland County, Wis., in 2000. At that time, it was most common to see does with twin fawns and occasionally one with triplets. It was extremely rare to see a doe with one fawn and even more rare to see a doe with no fawns. Rarely did I see a wolf track in the woods.  
Fast forward 10 years to 2010. At that time it became extremely rare to see does with triplets. I saw just as many does with one fawn as with twins. Seeing a doe with no fawns was nothing unusual.
