Great news on the sturgeon front early last week when the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced more than two months ahead of the June 30 deadline that the agency will not be listing the nation’s lake sturgeon – or even distinct populations within a state or states – as federally endangered.
This should have been an easy call considering all the work and progress states have been making on the lake sturgeon front over the years as they’ve worked across borders to bolster sturgeon populations.
