On March 7, my friend, Pat Empson, who lives near an orchard north of Traverse City, Mich., posted a great Facebook photo of an eastern bluebird perched on what looks like a piece of furniture in her yard. A week later, her local television station featured it in two of its newscasts.
“Wow!” I exclaimed, as I showed the photo to my husband, Stan. “This seems early. I guess we had better get our nest boxes cleaned out.”
