On river systems: Control your boat, catch fish

This time of year, river systems are where it’s at if you want to catch walleyes. To be successful, you must control your boat in river current in order to properly present your bait. Do that, and you’ll be impressed by the results. (Photo by Steve Carney)

Anglers are taking advantage of the early spring-like weather, with many of them now fishing the variety of fish available in river systems in the Midwest. Some anglers tend to be wary of fishing river systems because of the current, which can be intimidating.
Here are some tips that should help you become more successful as the river-systems fish bite heats up.
