Deer hunter success slips over the past decade in Illinois

The National Deer Association’s report indicates that by 2021-22, Illinois’ “success” rate dropped dramatically, with only 29% of hunters taking at least one deer. (Stock photo)

Illinois deer hunters have gone from average to below average when it comes to hunter success in the past 10 years.
This according to two different sources: the hunters themselves and the National Deer Association, which bases “success” on the percentage of hunters that harvest at least one deer each season.
