Volunteers for the Ruffed Grouse Society plan the renewal of alder for wildlife at Tionesta Lake for the second year in 2024.
Tentative dates planned for the alder renewal are two Saturdays, Feb. 24 and March 30. Woodcock, ruffed grouse, warblers, rabbits, mice, voles, bobcats, and fox all use the habitat created by an alder thicket.

Three people recently plead guilty in Westmoreland County court for their roles in a series of wildlife crimes committed in southwestern Pennsylvania.
According to the Game Commission, the trio shot 26 deer, mostly at night with a .22 caliber rifle, during a poaching spree from October to November 2022. The majority of these unlawfully killed animals were left to lay where they were shot.
