As I write this, our part of southern Illinois is under severe winter weather: sub-zero temps and dangerous windchills. It’s weather none of us should consider hiking in; it just isn’t prudent.
But in a few days, things will normalize, and we’ll return to less dangerous “normal” winter conditions. I’ve always enjoyed winter hiking – no bugs, no sweat, and a much different landscape.
