In late December, the polar vortex started to lose stability. A sign of a weakening vortex is the westerly winds, blowing strong with bitter cold air. By the second week of January, it seemed more certain what was happening to the weather.
Thoughts of ice fishing became hard to ignore, even if it amounts to nothing more than a few days of opportunity, there will be ice here and there.
