Know your insurance coverage before taking a vehicle out on the ice

I recently saw a photo of an airplane that landed on the ice of a frozen lake and then skidded onto thin ice where it nosedived into the water below.
Until then, I’d never even heard of a plane landing on an ice-covered lake, but I suppose in “up-north” areas where lakes seem to be ice-covered more than they are open water, it happens frequently. I’ve seen dozens of photos of cars, trucks, snow machines and ATVs that took the plunge.

Campground hosts needed for Iowa’s upcoming recreation season

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking people who enjoy the outdoors, camping and meeting new people, to consider becoming volunteer campground hosts for the upcoming recreation season.
Volunteer campground hosts live in state parks from one to five months assisting DNR staff with light maintenance duties, checking in campers, and being a resource for visitors enjoying state parks and forests.

Iowa DNR to host public meetings across the state to discuss hunting, trapping, and possible rule changes

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is hosting a series of town hall-style meetings where local staff will provide updates on recently completed hunting and trapping seasons, discuss possible changes to hunting and trapping rules and regulations, and address other topics as requested.
“We want people to come out to these meetings, listen to the seasons reviews, ask questions and hear directly from our staff,” said Todd Bishop, chief of the Iowa DNR’s Wildlife Bureau.
