I had a South Dakota archery tag burning a hole in my pocket all season, and I was itching to punch it. The problem was, my work schedule was jam-packed, and I had waterfowl- and pheasant-hunting plans.
So, bowhunting for Dakota deer looked to be unlikely until I made a hard decision to disregard work responsibilities and trek west to the South Dakota/Montana border region to chase whitetails with my recurve bow.
