Inaugural event raises $700,000 for South Dakota wildlife habitat

Nearly $700,000 was raised for conservation in South Dakota at the Second Century Habitat Fund’s gala last week in Sioux Falls, including over $100,000 for the organization’s Winter Storm Initiative. (Photo by John Pollmann)

The thermometer might have suggested “summer,” but the fall hunting season was at the forefront of the minds of the 550 guests estimated to be gathered for the first-ever “Gala for a Century” held at the Sioux Falls Convention Center on June 3. The event was hosted by the Second Century Habitat Fund, a nonprofit organization established in 2019 to advocate for habitat development related to pheasant hunting in South Dakota.
