U.P. Whitetails of Marquette County is extremely concerned about the DNR’s proposed U.P. deer regulation changes.
The deer herd in the Upper Peninsula has been going downhill for the past 20 years due to habitat loss and a high predator load. In 2003, U.P. hunter harvest was 62,000 deer with an estimated population of 390,000 animals. For the past five years, hunter harvest has been around 30,000 deer or less.
