Sporting-related items to watch as budget countdown lies ahead in New York

Gov. Kathy Hochul’s 2024 fiscal year budget negotiations are under way as you read this. The one-house budget proposals, which are often negotiating chips for the three chambers, were released on March 14. Included in Hochul’s initial budget was making the Pilot Junior Hunting programs that allows 12- and 13-year-old hunters to pursue whitetails, permanent.
