Survey shows that hunters, shooters are affected by rising ammunition costs

Is the rising cost of ammunition, including lead alternatives, a hindrance to hunting and shooting sports? Results of a 2022 survey of hunters and shooters indicate that such an increase likely would have a negative effect on participation. (File photo)

Ammunition prices have increased anywhere from 200% to 850% (depending on caliber) since 2000. Although the reasons behind these increases are complex, there has been little attention paid to the potential effect they might have on hunting and shooting participation.
