Delaware Lake in Ohio: Target river channels for crappies

Finding crappies like this one in the late winter/early spring at Delaware Lake in central Ohio is not a tough task, according to Henderson. Follow the river channels and you’ll likely find schools of both blacks and whites at this lake that is known for producing sizeable slabs. (Photos by Lonnie Henderson)

So, you want to catch crappies? BIG crappies? Well, there is no better time than now to do just that at Delaware Lake in Central Ohio.
Early spring is when you will find the highest number of keeper-sized fish in the lake. There has been very little fishing pressure put on them for months and many of the fish that were just shy of the 9-inch size limit last year have grown to legal size now.
