There isn’t any safe ice on any lake in Ohio just yet. But, anglers are continuing to fish open water, though fishing pressure in most places has been extremely light.
The 1,148-acre lake, just outside of Hillsboro near Greenfield, was created in the late 1960s and early 1970s by the damming of Paint Creek, which drains an area of 753 square miles.
Nockamixon Lake is big, covering 1,450 acres. It has an abundant forage base, made up largely of alewives and gizzard shad. And it’s got plenty of fish-holding habitat, both near shore and off shore.
