National Great Outdoors Month is the time when hundreds of national wildlife refuges, parks and other public lands host special events and welcome droves of visitors. Each year, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hosts more than 50 million visitors, helping create outdoor memories that last a lifetime.
Under the Great Outdoors Month umbrella, National Trails Day was June 3, but a number of other such outdoors celebrations of note include:
- National Fishing and Boating Week (June 3-11).
- National Get Outdoors Day (June 10).
- In Colorado, Get Outdoors Colorado event –National Marina Days (from Memorial Day to Labor Day).
- Great American Campout (all summer).
