The folks at Big Wave Sport and Tackle in Mahopac/Westchester Archery report that fishing is starting to pick up on most of the reservoirs, with Gleneida, Gilead, West Branch and Croton Falls all yielding brown trout ranging from 2-7 pounds. Most of the fish are being taken on shiners but some on spoons. Lots of panfish were being brought in; a 2-pound, 14-ounce crappie was weighed in earlier this month. Some chunky yellow perch have also been caught. Kensico Reservoir has been a little slow but should pick up soon. Check out Big Wave’s Facebook site for updates.
