Northeast Pennsylvania Fish Report – May 23rd, 2014

Beltzville Lake (Carbon County)  — Striped bass were reported on chicken livers in the upper reaches of Pohopoco Creek bay and the Pine Run area in recent weeks.

Mauch Chunk Lake (Carbon County) — Nice-size crappies were hitting minnows in recent weeks.

Lackawanna State Park Lake, Merli Sarnowski County Park Lake (Lackawanna County) — Pastebaits were taking recently stocked trout at Lackawanna Lake, while spinners were productive at Merli Sarnowski.

Curtis Reservoir (Lackawanna County) — Perch up to 15 inches were reported in recent weeks, with crawlers off the bottom productive.

Griffin Pond, Maple Lake (Lackawanna County) — The crappie and panfish bites were slow in early May.

Lehigh River (Monroe County) — Very good fishing was reported in the State Game Land 127 area, where stocked trout were taking live and artificial baits. 

Ford’s Lake (Wyoming County) — Good trout fishing was reported in recent weeks.

Frances Slocum State Park Lake (Columbia, Luzerne counties) — A large muskie was released around the Carverton Road area waters in recent weeks.

Delaware River (Pike County) — Shad were on the move in late April, with fish at least as far as the Zane Gray area. Walleyes were biting.
