Reservoir levels are good and continue to improve, so tailwater fishing should continue to provide decent fishing. Sulphurs are fading and now small Olives are on all the rivers. A few more Caddis are around. Catskill Flies

Most of the fishing attention has been centered on bass, but the NYC reservoirs that hold trout have still be yielding browns, and fishing should get better as cooler temperatures arrive. Bob’s Sport and Tackle

Transition time into fall patterns likely now for bass and trout. Not hearing a lot of reports, but water temps and conditions should be good on trout waters like the Battenkill, Mettawee and others. Bass action was hit and miss on Saratoga Lake at last check. Top-water fishing should be good for Lake George smallmouths.

The snapper fishing remained excellent in all areas for anglers using spearing fished under a bobber, snapper poppers and small tins. Lake Champlain bass will be shifting into their fall feeding frenzy soon. On the West Branch of the Ausable, conditions were very good water temperature-wise, with isonychias, caddis and stoneflies your best pattern options. Look for pike and bass action in the Saranac Chain of Lakes.

Cayuga Lake: Trolling down 70-100 feet over 80-120 feet of water with spoons or flasher and flies, fished off downriggers, copper wire, or Dipsey Divers is still working for lake trout. Bass and panfish are still being caught on the north end in 10-15 feet. Seneca Lake: Brown trout and Atlantic salmon are being caught

Lake Ontario: Salmon are starting to stage around river mouths like the Oswego and Salmon rivers. Good baits continue to be spoons, flashers and cut-bait, and flashers and flies. Lake Ontario and tributaries: Lake action has been good to very good for a mix of fish. You can pick up mature kings first thing in the morning as close as 75 feet of water in front of Wilson and Olcott. On the Niagara Bar, kings are also available at the drop off and beyond.
