St. Lawrence River Anglers continued to get out on Eel Bay, Lake of the Isles, Goose and Chippewa bays, but conditions may have changed. Black Lake Not hearing a lot right now.

Most anglers are awaiting the official April 1 opener. That said, nymphs and streamers could be productive on waters now open for fishing (the West Branch of the Delaware upstream from the game lands and the no-kill sections of the Beaverkill and Willowemoc. Some little black stoneflies are also appearing. Catskill Flies

Not much angling activity of late due to changing weather conditions and a lack of ice.

Not a lot happening right now as the region transitions from ice fishing to the open-water season leading into the April 1 trout opener.

The offshore bottom fishing remained excellent. From New York Bight to Montauk Point in 120 to 180 feet of water there was a great mix of ling to 8 pounds, codfish and pollock in the 8-to 12-pound class as well as sea bass and hake. A few blackfish have been mixed in with the cod.

Seneca Lake Brown trout and Atlantic salmon were hitting on weighted salmon flies trolled on the surface. Anglers fishing on the inside of the pier are catching yellow perch and bluegills. With the warm weather predicted over the next week ice conditions may deteriorate very quickly. So, If you do decide to venture out on the ice, please check ice thickness frequently, walk from shore, fish with a buddy, and bring a rope and ice-picks.
