Finger Lakes/Southern Tier Fishing Report – March 22nd, 2013

Seneca Lake

Brown trout and Atlantic salmon were hitting on weighted salmon flies trolled on the surface. Anglers fishing on the inside of the pier are catching yellow perch and bluegills. The yellow perch were hitting on fathead minnows and the bluegill on wax worms or spikes. The bluegill bite has been better late in the day and has continued after dark.

Susquehanna, Chenango, Tioughnioga and Unadilla rivers

Nothing to report, and walleye season has ended anyway.
Whitney Point Reservoir: Nothing to report as the ice deteriorates.

Adirondacks

We’ve reached that time when ice conditions are rapidly deteriorating and, while there may be the odd water or bay that allows for safe fishing, we can’t in good conscience point you to a spot as weather conditions continue to change. The hard-water season is pretty much over.
