Metro Area Fishing Report – March 22nd, 2013
Fishing pressure has been minimal with just a few reports of sunfish and crappies from the North Arm in 12 to 19 feet. There are panfish in Carson’s Bay in 14 to 19 feet.

Anglers fishing through the ice in the Bayport area of the St. Croix River are catching sunfish and crappies in 15 feet. Open-water anglers on the Mississippi River are pitching jigs and catching walleyes in Pool 4. Fishing pressure has been light on area lakes for panfish this week.

Whaletail Lake is giving up a few crappies during the evening hours in 18 to 22 feet. Look to Lake Sarah for sunfish in 12 to 14 feet early and late each day, while panfish reports from other lakes remain nonexistent.

Getting around on most lakes is viable with vehicles and snowmobiles, but there hasn’t been a lot of people fishing. The best reports are from Chisago Lake for sunfish in six to 12 feet and for crappies in the main basin over 22 to 25 feet.
