Bismarck, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s bighorn sheep hunting
season gets under way Friday.
Six licenses were issued for this year’s season, which runs
through Nov. 3. One license is auctioned every year to raise money
for sheep management, and the rest are given out through a lottery
drawing.
The Game and Fish Department has said sheep numbers in North
Dakota remain strong at just under 300 animals despite three
consecutive severe winters.
