Trappers and fur dealers come indoors to raise money

More than 1,500 trappers, fur dealers and outfitters attended
the annual Ohio State Trappers Association (OSTA) convention on
Sept. 9-11 at the Madison County Fairgrounds in London.

Saturday night’s benefit auction featured 175 donated items,
including a handmade log bench from Chainsaw Carvings of Buchtel.
Melissa Fraizer of Albuquerque, New Mexico, purchased the bench for
$350.

Melissa’s brother, Mark Fraizer of Mansfield, purchased an
OSTA-donated collector’s edition .22 caliber Henry Goldenboy rifle
in memory of his father, the late Paul Fraizer, who was a long-time
OSTA member. Mark Fraizer paid $1,200 for the gun.

The auction generated about $10,000 with $2,000 of that amount
going to the non-profit Dream Catchers, USA, an organization which
provides hunting and trapping opportunities to disabled and
seriously ill children, according to OSTA member Dave Linkhart.
