St. Lawrence River: Walleye action has been good on jig-and-crawler rigs, and pike are hitting live shiners on the weedbed edges throughout the river. Bass were at 15-20 feet at last report and were active. Black Lake: Chapman’s Sports (315-324-5265) reports solid bluegill action and both smallmouth and largemouth bass on the feed this fall.
Crab Orchard Lake: Crappie action continues to be good. Minnows and jigs in 6-8 feet of water around the brush should produce a nice mess of fish. Around the rocks and bridges about 10 feet deep is where you’ll find catfish. Jugs, leeches, cut bait and minnows are the baits of choice. Bass and bluegills
