St. Lawrence River: Fishing on the St. Lawrence has been very good of late, according to New York Outdoor News contributing writer Matt Curatolo. They’ve begun to move into deeper water and the shallows are now filled with smallmouth bass preparing for the spawn. Pike action is picking up as well as the water warms.
The Lake Gogebic fishing opener on May 15 was a success. Fish seemed to be scattered, with large females moving to deeper structure. Males provided great action in some areas in depths of 4 to 10 feet. Minnows and leeches were producing the best. Trolling results were minimal. Bear’s Nine Pines Resort, (906) 842-3361.
