Lake City, Minn. Wildlife art afficionados won’t want to miss the 31st annual Wild Wings Fall Festival, Sept. 18-19 near Lake City.

A long list of wildlife artists, including Jim Killen, Kyle Sherod, Valeria Yost, Michael Sieve, and David Maass will be on hand at the event. Minneapolis Have a dog that’s misbehaving? Want him (or her) to participate in the latest version of a “makeover?” Schara Enterprises, producers of Minnesota Bound, is producing a TV show about training outdoor dogs.

The producers are looking for three dogs in need of “doggy makeovers” along with their owners. These will be dogs that don’t respond to their owners and need some specialized training. Dog and owner would allow dogs, trainers, and TV camera to follow them closely for what would probably be a six-month training course. For

St. Paul Women interested in taking part in a winter workshop offered by the Minnesota DNR Becoming An Outdoors Woman program should sign up soon. This year’s event will take place March 4-6 at the Gunflint Lodge near Grand Marais.

Programs such as trapping and polar fleece mitten-making are among the offerings, as are snowmobiling, ice fishing, dog mushing, and cross-country skiing, according to BOW coordinator Jean Bergerson. St. Paul Cathy Hamm has been named Central Region Enforcement supervisor for the DNR. Capt. Hamm began working for the DNR when she was 17 and became the state’s first female conservation officer in 1980. She’s also served as the statewide training coord

The DNR also announced Mike Hammer is the new Enforcement Division education program coordinator. Capt. Hammer, the son of retired CO Fred Hammer, has served as CO in several areas, as well as regional training officer for the division.
