St. Paul The 2004 waterfowl regulations supplement, with information on special goose hunts, waterfowl limits and season dates, soon will be available at the state’s 1,800 electronic license sales agents and at the DNR License Center in St. Paul.

This year’s supplement contains color illustrations to help hunters identify ducks on the wing, as well as shooting tips and information on how to avoid common waterfowling violations. Chaska, Minn. The Minnesota Outdoor Heritage Alliance will host its second annual Sportsman/Legislator Strategic Summit at the Chaska Community Center on Sept. 11.

At the event, outdoors leaders will interact and exchange ideas with Minnesota legislators, the DNR, and national outdoors industry leaders. Sen. Mark Dayton, Congressman Collin Peterson, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty attended last year and have been invited to return. A $45 registration fee includes materials, food, and beverages. The summit begins at 9 a.m.

St. Paul Beginning this week, interested farmers and landowners may offer bids to enroll in the USDA’s Conservation Reserve Program. Signup for CRP runs through Sept. 24.

The CRP signup comes on the heels of President George W. Bush’s Aug. 4 announcement in Minnesota that CRP will continue into the future, and that the USDA will reach a fully enrolled program at 39.2 million acres.
