Bloomington, Minn. Art entries for the 2002-03 Federal Junior Duck Stamp Competition recently were submitted to the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Bloomington. Judging will be held Tuesday, March 25, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Burnsville

For the four grades categories, there will be a total of 100 paintings selected as winning art. One piece will be selected as “best of show” and will be sent to Washington, D.C. to represent Minnesota in the national competition. The program is available to kids in grades K-12. Madison, Wis. Two more cases of chronic wasting disease have been found in the area where Wisconsin officials want all deer killed to eradicate the disease, according to the state DNR.

The findings bring the number of deer found with CWD to 64, all in southwestern Wisconsin and within miles of where the disease was discovered near Mount Horeb in 2002. The DNR said 58 of the deer were found in the 411-square-mile area near Mount Horeb where the agency wants all deer an estimated 30,000

St. Paul Four lawmakers who represent the area around Voyageurs National Park have introduced bills in the Minnesota House and Senate to restore the Citizens Council on Voyageurs National Park, calling it an important forum that lets area residents have

The council will go out of business on June 30 under a law passed in 2000. The bills introduced by Rep. David Dill, DFL-Crane, and Sen. Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook, would “repeal the repeal,” allowing the council to keep operating indefinitely. The bills also provide a $150,000 budget for the council for the next two years.
