Death closes state park

Associate Editor Luverne, Minn. A state park in southwest Minnesota is expected to be closed through the Memorial Day Weekend as officials investigate the death of a park worker there on Sunday. Eau Claire, Wis. Although mange, a contagious skin disease, killed some of Wisconsin’s wolves this year, the state’s wolf population is holding steady, according to state officials.

A total of 251 wolves were counted in the state as of April, said Adrian Wydeven, mammalian ecologist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
