Information that will help you catch more walleyes, panfish, northern pike and perch on first ice this season.

Fishing has been good, although pressure has been low. But still catching steelheads on the rivers and walleye on Erie, and the perch bite remains hot on Lake St. Clair.

On Lake St. Clair, yellow perch action was good all over the lake.

Whenever the weather cooperates, outstanding catches of perch can be made for the next several months close to shore and in protected embayments connected to the lake.

Yellow perch action has been very good so far this year in New York waters. However, not everyone on the lake is enjoying similar success.

A fairly strong cold front swept through the area and that definitely affected the bite. However, there’s still plenty of big fall walleyes and perch being caught.
