Walleyes in one of northern Wisconsin’s most popular fisheries are in trouble, now numbering an estimated 2,000 fish, which is down from about 13,000 in 1990.

They’ll be able to keep four walleyes — up one from last spring and winter, with one longer than 17 inches still allowed in the mix.

This will be the first time the championship will be held in Illinois or on the Mississippi River.
