Ohio Fishing Report – October 7, 2021 – video
It’s officially fall and a good time to be a Buckeye State fisherman. Blue catfish, saugeyes, steelhead, and yellow perch are all on angler radar right now.
It’s officially fall and a good time to be a Buckeye State fisherman. Blue catfish, saugeyes, steelhead, and yellow perch are all on angler radar right now.
This tactic is deadly and you don’t have to fool with spawn.
Lake Erie anglers got blown off the big lake this week by gale-force winds, but northeast Ohio steelhead fishermen are just about ready to dip their toes.
Just 29,000 steelhead passed the Bonneville Dam since July 1 – the fewest ever recorded and less than half the average of the past five years.
Yellow perch fishing has slowed down somewhat on Lake Erie, but walleye and even steelhead are taking their place in anglers’ creels.
Lots of good fishing action taking place all across the state. Warm weather has finally settled in and we’re getting into summer patterns.
In the lake, the headline act is the Chinook salmon, the “king” of the water.
Ohio’s steelhead, which are produced at the state’s hatchery in Castalia, are one of the most sought-after fish in Ohio.
Despite a midweek snow across much of the state, steelhead and walleye fishing continue strong.
