While some bigger walleyes are being caught on deep, main-lake structure in some areas, weedy spots seem to be holding better numbers of fish.
Panfish and bass continue to provide consistent action along the weedlines in most locations.
You might have to grind out these 20-fish days, but where else are you going to go with that type of action and have a good shot at a six-pounder?
It certainly feels like we’re already at that point of the summer where you take what a given lake is willing to give up.
Summer patterns are in full swing for all fish species.
Finally some “average” weather. Summer patterns continue, though, and we’re finding fish in likely spots. Presentations continue to look toward summer, but there are some specific tactics to consider for more bites.
For the most part, many areas reported excellent fishing for a variety of species along established weed edges or weed flats. This is even more true for bigger panfish, bass, and pike, and walleyes.
Bucktails and small mid-diving crankbaits in perch or black have worked best. The topwater bite has been pretty decent, too.
There seemed to be quite a bit of fish movement to deeper water this week.
