Fishing pressure has been light, but for the few die-hards still getting out some of the best fishing of the year has been happening.

Fall feeding frenzy has crappie anglers buzzing.

Browns were exceptional throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. Since 2000, brown trout fishing has experienced a sharp decline.

The few anglers still getting out are finding a very good perch bite in Lake St. Clair and Lake Huron’s Saginaw Bay.

Of the estimated 2019 brown trout harvest of 2,466 fish (open water), Green Bay comprised 31% of the total brown trout harvest for Lake Michigan in 2019.

The hot bite has been for perch in Lake St. Clair, Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron at the Les Cheneaux Islands, and in Big Bay de Noc, to name a few.

On Lake Michigan, angler effort has been low, with fall/winter perch patterns not yet established, and the staging salmon mostly going up the creeks.
