Steelhead are now the main species here, with a few brown trout being caught.

Fishing the likely holding spots will be productive – you just have to put in your time.

For now, there is good action for spawning browns and post-spawn fish and some nice steelhead.

This past weekend saw some anglers have succes not only with walleyes, but with the perch as well. A lot of dead-sticking and tip-up fishing right now producing the best results.

Early-ice initial reports are good, with walleyes, saugers and jumbo perch in the mix.

Winter perch fishing has started to pick up in the deep clay flats off Gary.

Ice is starting to form on lakes across the state, but nothing substantial just yet. On the rivers, good steelhead reports.

There are good numbers of steelhead spread throughout the Lake Erie tributaries, and the streams have been fishing very well when conditions are favorable.

From Lake of the Woods to the Rainy River to the Northwest Angle, here’s what ice-fishing possibilities are looking like.
